After installation of Windows is recommended to install Service Pack [SP] which can be upgraded retrospectively. If you make many installations you can do so called Streaming installation which implicate SP and also KB and drivers from the installation disk and do a new installation disc.
For Windows 7 recommended Service Pack 1 [SP1]. Updated via Windows Update or downloaded for free-standing installation.
- Installing the drivers for Chipset. Always start with this Driver, Then you can install the LAN, Audio, Graphic, m.m. in any order. Restart the computer.
- Update Windows with Internet Explorer if it is XP (one of the few times I use IE). There is a link under Tools in Internet Explorer. Windows OS 7 have Windows Update in Control Panel.
Check in Device Manager if there are any yellow icons (Right click on My Computer > Manage > Device Manager).
If there are yellow icons missing the drivers for any hardware in your computer. Locate them on the Internet or CD.
- When all the yellow warnings are gone in the device manager, you have a new system installed for your computer. But that eat far from clear. I recommend installing antivirus software, Antispyware and no suitable tool to keep your system in good condition.
